THANK YOU for wishing to contact me. Whether to sing praise or sling mud, I thank you either way.

Be advised that the email address you leave is visible only to me. Also be warned, upon leaving a message, you will receive an email inviting you to join some sort of listserv I am alleged to maintain. Nothing of the sort. Please forgive me for that automated message generated by this pesky "Guestbook" template. Simply ignore it. If I knew how to disable it, I would.

And I certainly will reply to your query or comment, BUT NOT HERE. Instead I will do so in a personal email sent only to you, and to be read only by you. So do not be dissuaded by my lack of responses HERE, as I will respond THERE.

Dear Mark Braunstein, Looking into 2 books on sprouts and sprouting which you gave to me...I'm not sure when, I read your beautifully written message to me on the title pages. I don't rmemeber meeting with you but I must have, somehow. Now I have looked into your web site and wish whatever initial contact we had, could have continued. You apparently live in Connecticut, I used to live on the coast of Maine, now (unfortunately) currently on the N.W.coast of Washington State. I came upon a book I wish to share with you, if you have an email address I would love to send you the info on Dr. Sircus's books...especially one of them. (or perhaps you already know his writings?)

My sincerest excellent good wishes to you, I am amél st.michele, friday harbor, wa.

Hey Mark

Unless you are truly in London at the police station, your email has been hacked. Attempts to send email to cannabis.sativa@sbcglobal.net seem to be redirected, although i checked my email logs and see that the messages are indeed being sent to that address. I'm getting a response from someone else saying "no, I Really Am in London and full of panic!!" You might need to run malwarebytes (free download) to see what's going on and clean it up. Hope you are doing well!

Where will the following workshop be held?  - October 29, Saturday, 10 AM-Noon Mark Braunstein will give a workshop on Edible Houseplants: Growing Microgreens At Home. Sample about 18 of these tasty and nutritious, microgreens that are making their way from restaurants and markets into family kitchens. Microgreens, the early stages of greens such as lettuce and broccoli, are even younger than mesclun salad greens. While mescluns first appeared in produce stores 25 years ago, microgreens are even newer. In this workshop, Mark will demonstrate a clean and cheap technique for indoor gardening of microgreens that is adapted from that of professional farmers. Participants will sample many varieties of microgreens. Mark is the author of “Sprout Garden: Indoor Grower’s Guide to Gourmet Sprouts,” and his articles about sprouting have appeared in magazines such as Vegetarian Times, Natural Health, Vegetarian Gourmet and Vegetarian Voice. Cost is $16. Registration is required. To register, call 1 (860) 439-5060.

I appreciate seeing the video of you being a voice of reason in the face of ignorance so controlled by the government and other pharmaceutical companies. I have used this natural subtance in a medicinal manner for years for other forms of ailments such as anxiety attacks. For a very long time  freedom of choice and the pursuit of happiness has been plucked away by a tyrannical force that our forefathers warned us of so long ago. I believe that some of Terence Mckenna's speeches had some solidified substance to reasons why people need to learn the language of what they are saying. Not just for recreational use as alchohol is mandated legal yet kills millions in various ways along with a couple of other substances, then everything else made to be illegal. I am not trying to state that some substances are not very dangerous to use if abused, obviously. Many pharmaceutical drugs can and have killed many people. Yet we have a natural substance with so many positive aspects and uses besides medicinal use and it is illegal. What a paradox...

I just finished Sprout Garden. I found your humor hillarious!! I am gluten intolerent because I can't tolerate the challenge to be tested for celiac. I have been searching for the right 'diet' for a year now. I enjoy the sprouting which I am now newly experimenting. I am also flirting with raw foods. This has been very enriching for me as I feel much better now. I have so much to learn and can't wait until I can get a vita-mix. I truly feel like I am taking responsibility for my own health. I am looking forward to reading more of your work. I noticed on this site that you have other interests that are interesting. I may investigate. Thank you for your insite. I have enjoyed you.

Thanks for the advice on what to eat at Kung Foo in Norwich last Sat. nite. Hope I didn't disturb your dining. Our meal worked out fine and as I was reading your review posted in the restaurant the waitress asked me if I knew who Mark Braunstein was, and when i said no she said "he is the gentleman that you spoke with earlier"

Your comments regarding faux products in general are valid,  but what can yoo do?  It sure does work well with my 5 vegan grandchildren. My daughter, Maribeth agrees, but she keeps it to herself, and won't publicly knock the "analogies".  By the way she is a fellow speaker at the NAVS Summerfest.

I thought Kung Foo had an incredible selection and variety and really goes all out to distinguish the dishes. We live in glastonbury, about midway between China Pan and Kung Foo, but recently many of the China Pan dishes taste similarly, so I suspect our next trip will be to Norwich. especially if it is rush hour.

Enjoy Johnstown

Hi Mark Mathew Braunstein!

I have just finished reading a 2008 article by you regarding marijuana smoking and health. It was very informative and funny!  I especially appreciated the  clarification on what the healthiest/ least harmful ways to smoke / smoulder your herb. (Candles -- paraffin-alia-- and tooth pics! Pre-heating your screen!  Home-made non-filtering tubes of cardboard!  Brilliant! )

Thank you for laying that all out in one article!

I also appreciate your focus on nutrition and drinking water straight up. Good stuff.  I have been vegetarian most of my life, vegan at times, focusing on raw as much as possible, but not 100%. I also am a wellness coach, and try to help others move toward healthier lifestyles. If it is ok with you, I'd like to share this article with some of my clients and friends.

I hope you are doing well!

Kindly,

Gianna

Hi!

You sure sound like the Mark I knew. Do you recall loaning me one of your paintings when you were living in NYC? The agreement was that I could keep it as long as it hung on the wall, which it has most of the past nearly 30 years. I still enjoy it, but I'm in the process of making changes in my life, contacting past friends, and I think it's time to finally return the painting.

Hope you are doing well.

Sincerely, Bess

Just wondering if you are the same Mark Braunstein with whom I briefly shared a house at 90 Englewood.  I won't say when or exactly where.  I couldn't get quite enough info to determine for sure, but your looks, your hairiness and your life style fit.  I just read your article in Vegetarian Voice about growing microgreens.  Even if you are not the Mark from my house (who was essentially "camping out" in the attic), I enjoyed the article and am starting to save my berry containers.  I look forward to getting my little garden going!!

Cheers,

Beth

I saw you last night but didn't get a chance to speak to you - really sorry about that.  You look well and I'm glad to see that.  I had to leave early with a friend who didn't feel well.  Thank you for the cd.  We will send a check, but have forgotten your mailing address.  Please inform so we can send.

Thanks and Peace,

Margaret

Hi Dear Mark!

First, I have to ask your apology. I use English as a second language and it is not perfect. My friend Lisa talked about you and your amazing talent to grow micro greens. I learned about raw food at Ann Wigmore institute in Puerto Ricco and I believe it works. Lisa said you have some lectures how to grow micro greens at home. I would love to take classes with you. I am from Stratford CT, and I beleive not too far from you. If you would be kind and let me know the next possible opportunity to learn from you how to grow successfully micro greens at home, I would be very delighted. Thank YOU very much and Happy New Year.....Edit Mirafiore

Dear Mark,

Greetings from long ago.  I am so pleased to find you.  I have been thinking of a friend of yours.  You introduced me to him and his wife.  He wrote a book about kabbala, numbers.  His wife gave classes to women about natural birth control.  I do not recall his name.  I think that he coined the phrase, "The crime is the punishment."  Is that correct?  Or is that your phrase?  How are you?  Somehow I seem to recall that you had an accident, quite a serious accident, and was hardly able to get around.  Is that correct?  I pray that you are well.  Yours sincerely,
Albert

I am very sorry that you suffered so from the toxicity of buckwheat greens. Thank you for writing about it in such convincing detail and at such length.

I was about (today or tomorrow) to purchase a large quantity (5 pounds) of sprouting buckwheat seeds and embark on a big project to grow microgreens this winter, including lots of buckwhat greens because I like the taste and they grow so quickly.  My friend Richard Raw cited your website as a resource in an article about growing sprouts and greens indoors.  I was reading through your material and found it very helpful.  The most helpful in terms of dramatic impact was the information about the toxicity of buckwheat greens. You saved me a lot of pain and confusion.  I deeply appreciate that.  I have very fair skin and our home has large widows, so I would have suffered but for you.  Thank you.

I am a 10+ year 99.99% raw foodist.  I will share with others what I learned from you about the toxicity of buckwheat greens.  Is it OK with you if I post your article on my Facebook page?  I have about 100 friends on Facebook who are raw foodists who woud benefit from knowing about the toxicity of buckwheat greens.

The raw diet is still in the pioneer phase.  I am sorry that you had a bad experience as a guinea pig.  I hope that the many benefits you derive from it more than balance out the pain you suffered.

Happiness, Health, Peace and Abundance for All!

Many Thanks and many Blessings,

In September of this year I found out that the killer of my mother was just convicted and was pending sentancing. For 12 years I didn't know that this was an unsolved crime and that the killer was never found. I saw the picture of Michelle Comeau, my biological mother, for the first time in my life in the newspaper. This was the photo that you had take of her (thank you for that). I am 21 and am looking for anything as far as information on Michelle. Through the article on that day I met one of my biological brothers for the first time, which was surreal. I know that it's a very long shot since it has been over a decade, but if you remember anything or can tell me anything about her that isn't already on your site I would so greatly appreciate it. Pedro (my biological brother) and I, got in touch with our grandmother and great grandmother on Michelle's side but they didnt have much to say since she was in jail, institutions and the state system for most of her life. I recieved a letter today that was written for me when I was 10 years old, it is Michelle saying that she had just given birth to another boy (which would make 3 of us), and that she was in jail when she gave birth to him. If you could somehow help me find out which jail or anything rather so we can find our last brother. I know it's a lot of random favor asking from someone you don't know but I would so appreciate it. Please write back to me on the provided email. I can give you proof that I am her daughter if you need it. Thank you so much for your time.

Hello,

I enjoyed the powerpoint of Vegetarianism in ART. I was wondering who is the artist for the very last one with the car that has a license plate that says meat, a man in the moonlight, a butcher shop, and angry animals following him. Thank you very much.

Hi. Not so much interested in your weed, but in how you adapted to life in the chair......my best friends husband injured in dirt bike accident Nov. 09 been home since Jan. very troubling to me as I watch how my dear friend is having to take care of this man, who seems so lazy and unwilling to accept this life......I can't understand...want so much for him to have someone to snap him into awareness. He is 39 yrs old, and spends most of the day playing video games.....drives me crazy...his wife, by best friend, works her tail off all day.  How did you get to be where you are? I can easily communicate through Facebook....Paden Hines...look me up if you have a free moment.

just checked your site; parts of it; especially, the cannabis part; heard about it from your brother; I'm the caretaker in Pa.; love the images of you holding a full, heavy portion of dried cannabis; I look forward to legalization; such an amazing herb; I've had 3 grow in my manure garden the past two years; on their own; popping up from seeds from a previous tenant, who was a heavy user at this barn where I house my horses and cow and chickens and have a garden, heavily laden with manures.  Female plants with deep, vibrant green leaves and aromas that enter my soul; I'm not a user, but appreciate the uniqueness of this plant and love stroking it lightly and breathing it in.  all the best,

So much to say, but I am happy to have this website, where I may visit you in cyber-space.

Thru so many journeys you are still very much with me.

Just a quick hello, perhaps with a follow up one day soon.

Mark, alias MM, Mathew, MMB  etc:  I  came to your site all because I came across a quote by Steve Ruggeri on the "word a day" site.  After reading the quote I googled Steve and came to your site.  Your eulogy was lovely , touching and heartfelt.  You were a good and dear friend.  Anyway, I then went to your site and just read your bio - loved it and connected with much of what you said.  I am also a Leo , and lover of good books, nature, animals, do not participate in organized religion but do read and cherish the ideas of Zen, lean toward pantheism  but really don't embrace group activities in general.  Your humor creates laughter and I love to laugh.  Just thought I would say I understand some of your approaches to life and am always happy to k now their are people like you in this world.  As the flapping of a butterflies wings in China can affect the weather in the US,  your wonderful spirit, habits and attitudes will affect more than just the people around you - it will affect all peoples  eventually.  Keep sharing your heart and soul!     Kathleen

Hi Mark,

I was referred to you by Tim Gilmer from New Mobility. I'm working on a piece for him regarding disability and medical marijuana, mainly is it still as much of a pain in the ass to try and use for treatment since Obama declared he would no longer raid dispensaries in states where its use is legal? I know you're story as it was written in Marijuana and Paraplegia, so I know you live in a state where it is not yet legal and I've been told you're very active in the fight. Right now, it seems more and more states are opening the issue to a vote, so that maybe the next hurdle.

I'd love to talk to you about it, along with your experiences as a user. Hopefully, we'll talk soon.

Namaste Mark, I was very inspired to learn of you and the weight you carry ! The long, short of it is I am a 33 year old male (T-12 paraplegic). I have been paralyzed for two short, but seemingly long years now. The four things that have kept me from "stepping on a rainbow", as Kinky Friedman put's it, are my beautiful wife Marcealina, practicing the Dharma of Buddhism, my musical aspirartions, and when it's possible, "herb". Unfortunatley, the one element that has not been consistent the last two years is the last mentioned. For I live in, still conservative, Texas (San Antonio). Plus peolple I have known who have put my clock "twenty past four", have turned out to be either shady or creeps. Nevertheless I can testify to your experiences, views, opinions, and values concerning the medicinal value of "herb". My only hope now is to someday, somehow (living on disability) move to a state where this medicine is legally regulated and distributed. I also expereince debilitating spasms from the metal fusion rods surrounding my spine in my lower back. Aside from my spinal chord injury. So in the meantime I do my damndest to concentrate on my first three mentioned valuable elements. I also want to share that I have "slept" on Kafka's work, but get the impression it is laced with alot of irony. Much like life...Two authors who have inspired me and gotten me through dark periods in my life over rhe years, are Hermann Hesse and Ranier Rilke. I am confident you are very familiar with the two of them. Well I will leave you for now by saying "Solidarity my brother !" It would be wonderful to hear from you. Keep yo' head up, and I will try to do the same...Take care, Blake

Hi Mark, I'm sure you remember me as the editor of AGADA who published your memoir "The City of Kafka: A True Tale," in Issue Dalet/#4, Winter 1983. I just came across this notice in Poets & Writers Magazine and thought your piece would be a perfect fit. Perhaps you have other material as suitable. *NATURAL BRIDGE, a journal of contemporary literature, guest edited by Howard Schwartz, is accepting submissions for a themed issue (#24) on Franz Kafka from November 1?December 31. We are seeking poems and stories inspired by Kafka, personal essays about Kafka, dreams about Kafka, new translations of stories by Kafka, translations of writers inspired by Kafka, and any other relevant submissions. General submissions of unpublished poems, stories and personal essays are also welcome. Simultaneous submissions accepted. Send work along with an SASE to: Natural Bridge, Kafka Issue, Dept. of English, 1 University Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63121. Coincidentally, we published two stories by Howard Schwartz and three amulets by his wife Tsila in that same issue. I'm in touch with Howard, who recently suffered a mild stroke. I could write to him myself about this, but I think it's better if you do. L'hitraot, Reuven
